MADELINE STONE X UNITED COLORS OF BENETTON
WHAT’S LIFE WITHOUT A BIT OF COLOR?
During my time working with United Colors of Benetton, I learned that life is more fun with a bit of color! Working with a large company taught me how to channel my creativity daily, make products for a broader audience, and understand just how important precision and attention to detail is when building a collection from start to finish. It was an incredible experience designing Fall/Winter and Spring/Summer 2019 collections alongside other professional designers for Sisley Young! and Benetton Kids. As a graphic designer and illustrator, I created slogans, designed patterns and prints for textiles, made technicals, and put together detailed technical cards for each product in every collection. I was also able to help my team as a native English speaker by finding creative English phrases that appeal to an international market. Once all of the collections were complete, we staged a fashion show to display the final outcome; which meant I could bring out my inner fashion stylist! The outcome was a success! The takeaway: just add a bit of color!
“The important thing is that you’ve got to have ideas in the first place. And you need to have the passion to implement them.”
